Kelechi Nwakali's British Visa Is Granted But He Is Weeks Away From Playing In The League

Kelechi Nwakali was due to start training with Barnsley this week after his British visa came through, but could still be weeks away from his debut.

The Nigerian midfielder signed earlier this month from Portuguese club Chaves but has not had a full pre-season.

Barnsley Head coach Darrell Clarke said: “Kelechi has been ticking over with gym work and basic stuff.

It will be a week or two of catching up. He hasn’t had a pre-season. It’s been frustrating but we’ll see how his fitness levels go and how he progresses.”

Nwakali will hope to use his sound performances in England as a springboard to attract future Super Eagles invitations.
