Eric Chelle Is Likely Set to Go For a Back 4 instead of 5 Against Rwanda

In a radical departure from Eguavoen and Peseiro' playbook, Afrofooty has specially learnt that coach Eric Chelle will start a back 4 for tomorrow’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Last year, Peseiro used a back 5 to win Afcon silver while Eguavoen used it to qualify for this year's Afcon.

Rumours from the camp in Kigali has it that Ekong will play alongside Calvin Bassey in the heart of the defence in the absence of the injured Semi Ajayi.

The fullbacks will likely be Bruno Onyemaechi on the left and Ola Aina on the right.

Despite a drop in form recently, Chippa United goalkeeper and captain Stanley Nwabali remains the Super Eagles No 1.

It is now left to see who the other outfield players will be.
