Can Super Eagles Head Coach Finidi George Prevent Undue Interference In Player Selections?

It will be impossible to shun undue interference in team selection (as this sort of behaviour is endemic in Nigerian society). Finidi just has to learn to manage it effectively with diplomacy, tact and good judgement.

Out of 23 players for example, Finidi will have his own core group of between 18 to 20 players. The remaining 3 to 5 slots can be used to cater to the whims and caprices of intolerable actors.

He should learn to integrate more indigenous Nigerian players into his squad regardless of where they play their football provided they have the skills, attributes and hunger to thrive in international football.

It is very possible for Finidi to make a success of this appointment. He just needs to have a plan, stay focused, maintain and assemble a band of very loyal core players who buy into his philosophy, improve his coaching acumen, cultivate his own relationships in corridors of power and continually yearn for success.
