Can Asisat Oshoala Come Good in Olympic Football?

Having been ignored in Nigeria's first Olympic Football game, many fans are now starting to question Asisat Oshoala's relevance to this Super Falcons team.

Watching Oshoala from last world cup and recent qualifiers, I observe that she still has pace and power in healthy bursts.

So, she definitely still has a place in the team for me.

I won’t subscribe to the notion that she has been a waste of space in national team assignments of late but a large throng of Super Falcons fans think she is washed up.

Methinks, though, Oshoala had a decent world cup in Australia where she scored in the group stages and troubled England with pace and shots at goal in the second round.

In recent post-world cup Afcon and Olympic qualifiers, her pace and power caused issues to oppositions. But I can’t help but notice how wasteful she has become in front of goal.

Her conversion rate is simply negligible. But on the flanks as a sub, she works a treat and has proven profitable in this regard.

So I think her brute speed and positional awareness will buttress her wealth of experience and mega star status to produce decent outputs if she is fit enough to be selected in subsequent games.
