The German coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has maintained that Nigeria remains firmly focused and ready for the tasks ahead despite recent defeats in friendly matches which have dampened morale among some section of the fans.
Speaking ahead of the team's trip to Russia on Monday June 11, Coach Rohr said: “We will take it one match at a time. I love this group because we know how to rise to the occasion together. Nigeria will be ready for Croatia.”
Regarding the poor results in friendlies which have seen Nigeria fail to win any of the last 4 matches, the coach said: " the defeats have done something for us – we have our heads firmly on our shoulders and we are focused. Together, we have reviewed the matches and learnt so many lessons. We will approach the World Cup matches differently."
The Super Eagles will play their first World Cup match on Saturday June 11 against Croatia at 20:00 hours Nigerian time.
