Akpeyi expected to keep another clean sheet

Fan's of the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be hoping that Chippa United's Daniel Akpeyi keeps yet again another clean in his club's fixture this weekend against Super Sports in the South African Premier League to continue a fine form going into the World Cup in June.

In Chippa United's game against Bloemfontein Celtic last Tuesday, the impressive Akpeyi, who continues to enjoy playing time despite stiff competition for the number one slot, was strong and sturdy in goal as the match ended 0:0. He had previously kept 3 clean sheets in 4 games.

If selected and he fails to concede a goal, that will mean clean sheets in consecutive matches for the keeper set to be named in Nigeria's provisional squad for the World Cup.

The 31 year old was teammates with Obi Mikel at the FIFA under-20 football tournament in 2005 and has been involved with various age grade and full Nigerian national team squads since then.
