Ighalo urged to score more goals

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo, who made the headlines this weekend with four fantastic goals for his club, is being urged by Super Eagles fans to show more goal scoring consistency and take a blistering form to the World Cup in June where he is expected to be the main striker for Nigeria.

Nigerian fans are frustrated that the former Watford star has only scored 4 goals in 18 appearances for the Super Eagles and throughout the World Cup qualifiers, he wasn't always convincing as a potent goal threat up front.

Having said that, there was more to Ighalo’s game, during the qualifiers, than just scoring goals. He was sturdy as a centre forward with the goal scoring opportunities he created and his overall contributions as an effective team player.

On Saturday April 21, Ighalo scored four goals for his club Changchun Yatai in their 5-2 away win at Guizhou Hengfeng in the Chinese Super League.

The 29 year old Super Eagles striker who failed to score in his previous three consecutive games, fired his side into the lead in the 24th minute from the penalty spot.

He would go on to score three more goals in the 38th, 86th and 90th minutes to cap off his most fascinating and productive display yet in the Chinese league thus far this season ; the match ended 5:2.
