Dream Debut For Kayode

Super Eagles World Cup hopeful forward Olanrewaju Kayode had a debut to remember in Ukraine over the weekend as he found the back of the net for Shakhtar Donetsk in their 3-0 away demolition of Zorya on Sunday.

With his team already 2 goals up, Kayode, who had come in for what was expected to be an inconsequential 91 minute substitute, made the most of that opportunity with his goal in the 93rd minute.

Peeling off opposing defenders, the ex-Nigeria youth international had the presence of mind to track the flight of the ball from the corner kick to rise high and crash his header to the back of the net with the keeper already beaten.

Before that goal, Shakhtar had gone 1-0 ahead thanks to Taison in the 41st minute and then 2-0 in the 61st minute thanks to Ferreyra.

Kayode, who is on loan from Man City, had a spell to forget in Spain having failed either nail down a regular spot or find the back of the net for Girona.

Several fans are clamouring for the speedster to be included in Nigeria's world cup squad as the current team is thin on out-and-out strikers.
