Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will take no part in his club's (Las Palmas) Spanish LaLiga clash against European champions Real Madrid this weekend as he recovers from a recent injury.
The Olympic bronze medallist expected to have recovered in time for this encounter but that hope is now all but dashed as he has not been certified as now fully fit.
Recall, Etebo picked up the injury a fortnight ago which forced him to miss Nigeria’s last two friendlies against Poland and Serbia.
His absence will be a blow to Las Palmas who are fighting against the drop and need to get a positive result in the game to boost their survival hopes; more so as Etebo has hit the ground running since joining the club with solid displays in the heart of the team's midfield.
The coach of the team Paco Jemez, during his pre-match conference on Friday, said: “As a result of injury Etebo has been ruled out of the game. We do not want to risk him.”
The 23-year-old has played seven games and provided one assist for Las Palmas since he joined on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese side Feirense in January.
Las Palmas are 18th in the Spanish LaLiga table with 21 points from 29 games.
