Under 17 World Cup winner Francis Odinaka Uzoho is understood would start his first game for the senior national team of Nigeria versus Poland in an international friendly match today in Wroclaw, Poland.
Uzoho made his senior national team debut for Nigeria by playing as a substitute in their 4-2 win over Argentina last year, with Daniel Akpeyi starting ahead of him.
South African based net-minder Akpeyi, who was rather unfortunate not to secure travel documents on time, is ruled out of this game while goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who would have been first choice only started training 2 days ago.
Coach Gernot Rohr may just have elected to go for Uzoho more so as he sent a goalkeeper trainer to work with him in Spain recently.
The goalkeepers will have a chance to stake his claim to the number one spot of the Eagles, which is still up for grabs despite Ezenwa displacing Akpeyi as first choice towards the end of the world cup qualifying campaign last year.
Undisputed first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is still out with Leukaemia while erstwhile first choice Enyeama is all but ruled out of contention due to club inactivity.
Another player in line for a start is Amkar Perm defender Brian Idowu who marked his debut in the game against Argentina with a goal. The 25 year old appears to have beaten Ola Aina and Elderson Echiejile in securing the left back spot.
